We enrolled in the Annual Almanac Programme after a difficult year where too many household decisions fell on me alone. The facilitated quarterly sessions changed that. My husband and I now sit down at each new school term to go through our household folder together — something we never did before.

The Quarterly Records Programme was practical in a way I did not expect. I am not a naturally organised person but the folder structure they set up at the first session made it easy to maintain. The Q3 session was particularly useful — we found documents we had not looked at in three years.

The Workshop was a sensible first step for us. Three hours felt like enough to understand what a seasonal household rhythm actually means in practice. We came away with the prompt sheet and have used it twice since — once before Chinese New Year and once before the school holidays in June.

My mother-in-law lives with us and the multi-generational aspect of our household made me hesitant about whether any programme would fit. Suraya adapted the conversation framework well — the quarterly sessions were flexible enough to include her without forcing anything. That was what we needed.

Useful and unhurried. The records programme helped us get a family timeline down on paper for the first time — we have been married seventeen years and had never written any of it down in one place. The Q2 session was the most useful; we updated the folder after a property change we had not yet processed properly.

I was not sure a Workshop would be enough to change anything lasting. It turned out the prompt sheet was what did it — it became a physical reminder sitting in our bookshelf that certain conversations belong to certain times of year. We signed up for the Annual Programme after the Workshop. Different level of engagement entirely.

Case Studies

Three Households, Three Seasons of Change

Case Study — 1

The Shared Household That Ran on One Person's Memory

Annual Almanac Programme · 12 months

The Situation

A family of five with two working parents and one elderly grandparent. All household administration — renewals, school schedules, document storage — was managed by one parent. The other parent and older children had no clear picture of the household's current state.

What Changed

After the initial setup session and the first quarterly conversation, the household had a shared folder that all adults could access and use. By the third quarter, the second parent had taken over management of two document categories independently.

At Year End

The household completed the annual almanac review and reported that three household areas — insurance, school records, and household accounts — were now managed across both parents rather than one. The seasonal prompt sheet continues to be used quarterly without facilitation.

"By the fourth quarter it felt normal. Not like a programme — just how we run the household now."

The Couple Preparing for a Property Change

Quarterly Records Programme · 12 months

The Situation

A couple in their late thirties planning to purchase a second property. Their household documents were spread across multiple folders and email archives. They lacked a consolidated household records baseline before approaching any external advisors.

What Changed

The first session produced a labelled folder with the household's current property documents, insurance policies, and income records in one place. At Q2, they were able to locate and organise additional documents they had not included at Q1. The programme did not advise them on the property decision — it helped them organise what they needed to have that conversation with their own advisors.

At Year End

The couple reported that the folder preparation reduced friction significantly when dealing with external professionals. They re-enrolled in the Quarterly Programme for a second year.

"We knew roughly what we had. After the first session we knew exactly what we had — and what we were still missing."

The Multi-Generational Household After a Major Life Change

Seasonal Workshop + Annual Almanac Programme

The Situation

A family of four adults — two parents, one adult child, and one elderly parent — following the passing of a family member the previous year. The household had not had a structured conversation about shared responsibilities since. The adult child described the family as "functional but quiet about things."

What Changed

The Workshop gave the household a structured way to return to shared topics without the pressure of a crisis. The annual almanac programme that followed created a seasonal rhythm — four facilitated conversations and an end-of-year review — that the household described as giving each season "a definite moment."

At Year End

All four adults participated in the annual almanac review. The household noted that several household agreements — about shared expenses and document responsibilities — had been put into writing for the first time.

"The almanac review at the end of the year was something none of us expected to find useful. We all found it useful."
